What to think of when buying a stove

Whether you are buying your first stove or exchanging the one you have for a new one, it is always better to take advice from staff who will provide all the necessary information and suggestions for your future stove. When buying a stove, it is important to know the size of the space where you will put it and how you will position it, but also the total surface area of the space your stove will have to heat.
f you choose the wrong stove for your home, you will spend both your money and time in vain, therefore, we recommend you consult the professionals on time. Furthermore, there are several important things you should pay attention to when selecting a stove for your space, such as:

SIZE OF THE SPACE

It is very important to know the size of the space you intend to heat with the stove, in order to determine the necessary heating power with the best efficiency. Furthermore, the firebox should not be too large in comparison to the space, or too small, therefore, we advise you to determine in advance the exact surface area you wish to heat with the stove, and to ask the salesman at the sales point for help or contact us by e-mail for advice.

VENTILATION

When the stove is in operation, it needs air for combustion. This air (small quantities) is drawn from the room where it is located; therefore, it would be better to bring air from the outside in order to ensure sufficient quantity of fresh air is always present.

If the wall where the stove is placed is in fact an exterior wall, we recommend drilling a hole to draw in fresh air. When a flue pipe is connected in such manner, it becomes independent of the air in the room (the opening for fresh air intake in the stove is about 20-30 cm above the floor). This characteristic of Color Emajl stoves, the opening for fresh air intake, makes our stoves perfect for installation in passive houses, since the air for combustion is not drawn from the room where the stove is located, thus saving energy.

INSULATION AND WINDOWS OF YOUR RESIDENCE

If you live in an older house with a less efficient insulation, or in a modern house with large glass windows, they both require more heating, so we suggest asking the salesman what would be the best option for such properties. It is extremely important to choose a stove that will be able to efficiently heat your space.

CHIMNEY

When buying a chimney and flue pipe elements, you should know the dimensions of the chimney in order to correctly connect the stove to the chimney.

Only a 2mm thick flue pipe can be used to connect the chimney with the stove.

Important:

  • The metal pipe which connects the stove with a flue pipe must never have a diameter smaller than the stove's exit opening
  • All connections from the stove to the chimney must be securely and tightly joined.
  • All stoves must have their own flue pipe and a single flue pipe must never be used for multiple stoves.
  • Pressure in flue pipes must never be less than 12 Pa

POSITIONING THE STOVE IN YOUR SPACE

When installing the stove in your living space, it is extremely important to consider the distance of the stove from the walls or flammable surfaces. It is recommended that you take with you the layout of the room where the stove will be placed when shopping for a model you’d like, in order to consider the necessary distance from flammable surfaces of certain stove models.

C – DISTANCE OF THE STOVE FROM FLAMMABLE SURFACES FROM THE FRONT

It’s important to protect all that could burn when exposed to high temperatures of the stove. We recommend buying a floor board for underneath the stove so as to protect your floor from embers.

STOVE INSTALLATION

It is extremely important the stove is installed in accordance with national and local regulations.

You can install the stove yourself or employ an expert to make sure the installation was completed correctly.
